‘In The Stillness’ is a still life oil painting. I imagine sitting in my comfortable recliner, reading a good book, slowly eating some decadent slice and listening to nature rustling in the breeze.

In reality, most days I’m chasing my kids around, chewing down any leftover food while making their meals and hearing them running and laughing. But I do like it that way after all. Life has seasons.

I had so much fun creating this piece, pushing the looseness and movement to new limits compared to some of my other works. I love the warmth showing through the sky and the contrast of light in the focal area, drawing the eye in. I aimed to create a moody colour palette with the pop of yellow and purple complimenting each other.

I just love clouds and the sky. They’re always changing, different every moment. Never twice the same. How can we not be impressed by such an artwork.
